Review-Eyeshadow-ELF Brightening Eye Colours.

A lil review for yaaa :) these eyeshadows have had mixed reviews, some people say they love them and they're really pigmented, others say they're powdery and have lots of fall-down.

I have 2 myself, one with a shimmering finish and one with a matte finish. I've got to admit, the matte one: not so impressive, but the one with the pearl finish is pretty good.

(From left to right-Teal Dream (shimmery) Matte Mauve (clue's in the name-matte finish).

Teal Dream has 4 lovely, shimmering colours in it; a pearly white, a light grey-beige        and a bright blue with gold shimmer and a mid-toned green with slight gold shimmer. (who knows what's going on with the placing of the world 'beige'..sorry!)

As you may be able to see, the white and the blue are slightly more powdery than the others, but the blue and green have excellent pigmentation whilst the white can be a little too powdery to use all over the lid. My favourite shade is the beige-grey that doesn't look paticularllyyyy nice on camera/in swatches, but I LOVE it over the top of my MAC Paint-Pot in Bare Study for an everyday eye look with some gel liner and mascara. For £1.50 you realllllly can't go wrong with this paticular colour/palette choice though!
Overall Ratings:
Price: 10/10 £1.50..you can't get any 4 eyeshadows for that price from any drugstore brand. Great, great deal.
Pigmentation: 7/10-as I said above, some are great, some not so much. They need to find a happy medium: making all of the shadows great, not just some great and some bad.
Ovearll: 8/10-It would be a 7, had the grey-beige colour not been in the quad. I know that 'grey-beige' as a colour description is hardly making you leap onto the ELF website and order this quad straight away, but it's really worth a try. The blue had green are great univeral colours and would work on any skin-tone, the two lighter shades might not work on the darker/more tanned skin though.

Matte Mauve has 4 matte shades: a very light baby pink, a light beige, a burgandy-purple/brown and a slightly darker (only a bit darker than the previous baby pink-not dark in general!) candyfloss pink.

This quad..eh...not so good, I've gotta say. Now I love ELF, and honestly I haven't had a problem with their 'bad swatching quality' on their website either, but this had me a little disappointed. The burgandy/purple shade as you can see, is pigmented and a wonderful colour-not hugely wearable, but you can see that when you're buying the product (my own fault-not ELF's!!). The slightly darker pink colour is barely visible in this swatch, and honestly, the picture isn't 'letting down the product' it's a pretty fair representation actually! The lightest pink is fairly pigmented for a light shade, but is realllllly powdery, just like the white in Teal Dream. The light brown/beige shade is nice, and could be a great brow shade for those with light brown/ashy blonde hair/brows if it wasn't soo powdery yet again!
Overall Rating:
Price: 10/10 for the actual price again, I know the quality isnt as good as the other quad, so surely this rating should be lower?! No. Because the price is soo low (£1.50), you really can't expect much else, and if it was better? Just a great surprise, no expected.
Pigmentation: 2/10-that's my fully honest opinion, need to work on these matte shades ELF!
Overall: 5/10-So it's not a great overall review for this PATICULAR quad but I'm interested to try some more Brightening Eye Colours and see if the story is the same there. Are all of the matte shades worse than the shimmery ones?

Thanks for reading.
Love, Katie .xxx
